So for some context when I was 13 I had played goalie my whole life until I tore my ACL and had to quit. I’m now 18 a 2005 birthyear goalie in my last season of travel and house. When I started again about last year never thought I’d play travel again but now I’m in my last year. I’m rapidly improving and starting to show up kids who have been playing for years. I need a lot of work and I’m not the best but I feel confident if I work hard in the next year I could be ready for low level juniors. Which comes to my question.
I’ve been offered a place in a ACHA D2 College team. They need a goalie for next season and I’d be backup to the starter. I’m going to an invitational combine in two weeks now and I really just know nothing about any of this scouting or “pro” level introduction stuff. I want to play juniors really badly though so my ultimate question is should I take my chances and commit to this ACHA California team or should I keep trying for juniors?
Is it possible to leave the college team and go for juniors? My dream is to reach D3 NCAA level or WHL. Either one would be a dream come true. I’m not saying I’m gonna make NHL because there are way better goalies than me but I just need some guidance. All my teammates tell me I won’t go anywhere but my coaches including some goalie coaches tell me I’ll go far if I try. I asked them about all of this and they gave me an either vauge or unclear answer. Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you.
