Hello everyone! My whole life I have collected baseball cards exclusively but with MLB tearing the A’s out of my soul and moving them out of Oakland, I’ve decided to switch my card collecting to hockey. I am a Sharks fan and I feel like this is a perfect time to get into hockey cards. I read the new collector post but that’s 5 years old. Would love to hear what tips and suggestions yall have. I know singles are the way to go but I love to rip. My goal is to collect from the time the sharks entered the league to now. Looking forward to making new friends and doing some trades!
What kind of cards are you wanting to collect? Do you want just rookie cards, patches/jersey cards, or autos?
Theres probably a lot of stuff on sale these days so if you have the cash you can try dipping your toes.

Young Guns are the go to rookie cards. They're affordable and I would recommend trying to rip for those as if you don't get your Sharks you might get someone else. 2024-25 Series 2 will be out February or March and should have Celebrini at least, if not Smith as well. You can rip 2021-22 Series 2 for cheap for fun to try and grab Eklund if you want. Young Guns don't have a specific logo but other products rookies will be indicated on the card.
The equivalent to Chrome would be O-Pee-Chee Platinum. I'm not super versed in base all cards but I don't think there's an equivalent to Bowman or Stadium Club.
I'd recommend watching Zeeree on YouTube. He opens almost every product so you can sorta see what each product is like and decide if there's something you'd like to rip.
Autos are harder to pull of course. SP Authentic has the Future Watch autos which are immensely popular. Ultimate and Premier are a step up with on card autos along with some patch or jersey autos. The Cup is the super high end with rookie RPAs as the big draw.
