What was the math behind Knight's 9 minute minor penalty last night?

I had the Avs vs Knights game on the side last night, I wasn't really paying that much attention as by the time I tuned in it was already 5-1 or 6-1 for the Avs.
Fast forward to the Ryan Reaves situation and I saw 9 minutes of penalty time afterward.
- I've never seen a 9 minutes penalty, how does one get a 9 minute?
- Was it due to having multiple penalties? (there were other players in the boxes)
- How come it was a minor penalty?
- Was it all a single minor penalty?? Or a combination of some, for example a 5 minute major 2 double minor.
