Newby question about z axis

Hello, I am wanting to build a verticle z axis 12 inches length total. Must beable to handle 650kg horizontal load for milling steel. Can someone help me with parts selection for this. My plan was to use steel instead of aluminum, for rididness and cost. It is for a mini mill benchtop project using a handheld router. Thank you
