Hola,
I recently got trained to use the Tormach PCNS 1100 at our local makerspace and I'm trying to design a fixture plate that I'll cut out on our larger gantry router for use on the Tormach.
The parts I make are 1/4in thick 6061 aluminum that range from about 2x2 to 13x9. The Tormach has a cutting area of 18x9.5in.
We have 2 Tormachs, one with a t slot base, and one with a plate that has a bunch of holes in it (not sure what the proper name is). Up until now, I would just use the existing workholding clamps on my stock and a scrap piece of aluminum underneath and use tabs. The pros is that this is very simple and works well. The cons beings that it wastes some material and requires some grinding and sanding later on.
So now I want to make a fixture plate that could allow me to machine the perimeter of the stock without using the super glue technique or vacuum. However, I am a bit lost on how to design this.
