How difficult is it to go through English Channel ?
Post Body

Hey there.

My friend and I are willing to go Ireland to visit it by hitchhiking. Our trip will start from France. I have been looking for many different ways to get to Ireland and I believe the best energy/time/money combinaison for us is to take a ferry from Fishguard to Rosslare. That'd be twice cheaper than taking a flight (i know Ryanair have cheap flights but we have big bags that can't fit in cabine bagages). I think it would take 2 days to get to Fishguard from Dover so that's kinda ok.

I have checked a little on Internet and it seems like (even for most recent posts) trying to get a free ride on a ferry from Calais is the best option. I've seen carpooling for 5€ only but there's almost no offer for Calais-Dover.

Do you have any experience on that matter ? Is it very difficult to get a freeride this way ?

We are easily taken by hitchhiking on the road by the way, kinda "good faces" for hitchhiking you know.

Thanks a lot for reading.
