Are hitchhikers a dying breed?
Post Body

Over the years, I remember seeing quite a number hitchhikers on the ramps, along old routes running beside the highways, and in little towns. They held up signs saying “North” or “South,” or simply threw up a thumb. I always wondered what stories they had, what life had thrown their way.

Roll on 10 years.

In the last 2 or 3 days, I’ve driven about 700 miles from NYC to Front Royal, PA, and I can honestly say that I haven’t seen a single hitchhiker. I’ve driven a mixture of backroads, old routes, highways, and everything in between while exploring.

For those of you on the road, stay safe out there, folks!

——

On the open road with a thumb to the sky, Where dreams of freedom soar and fly. Each ride a tale, each stop a friend, Hitchhiking's journey has no end.

Footsteps echo on paths unknown, In the heart of adventure, I'm never alone. With every mile, my spirit's light, Hitchhiking brings pure delight.

But hardships come, as sure they will, Cold nights, long waits, an empty thrill. Yet every struggle, every tear, Shapes the wanderer without fear.

Through rain and sun, through dark and bright, Hitchhiking is a dance of light. A journey bound by fate and chance, In every ride, a wild romance.
