Hello Reddit,
I am a student teacher candidate and I was helping teach today and a disruptive student yelled out,
"Why are we in this class? There's no reason to know about history. History can't help me get a job".
I tried to explain that knowing the past mistakes will help build a better base for understanding in the real world. Trying to explain that learning good study skills and writing skills can help in the future. The student did not like my answer.
Have any of my fellow teachers had this issue come up in any of their classes? How did you respond?
Thank you for feedback.
