Hi everyone,
I am currently a long term sub for 11th grade US History. The teacher is somewhat providing lesson plans for me, however he said everything is completely flexible and I can basically do whatever I would like.
Right now I am incorporating debates into their lesson plans. I am having them get into groups and debate different topics such as the death penalty, gun laws, etc.
They are also writing a small paper every two weeks on what Trump has done while in office and how it will impact them, America and the rest of the world.
I'm kind of stuck after this. I could easily give them some book/chapter work however I would prefer to do something a little more fun. They were doing book work before and they really weren't interested in that. Ever since they've started these debates they've all been engaged, participating and having fun!
As I said the teacher is pretty flexible, so I can kind of do any topic/lesson I want. If it makes a difference the next chapters in their book are "Immigrants and Urbanization," "Life at the Turn of the 20th Century," and "The Progressive Era."
I will also only be in this classroom for one more month.
Thanks!
