So, Iām a middle school history teacher and have been for 10 years. When we cover the Bill of Rights, I often have the kids summarize each amendment with a comic or illustration. Many times the beloved 3rd amendment is hilarious with a lot of soldiers knocking on a door and a stick figure saying ānopeā kind of things.
But the second amendment without fail, proceeds to have the kids googling images of guns and spending a ton of time drawing very realistic portrayals of firearms. It makes things awkward in the light of whatās been happening the last 20 years.
Now I aināt no prude and own a couple antique arms for the history and whatnot, and even remember being that age and being fascinated with guns, war, and the like. But, any ideas on how to get around this eventuality other than āillustrate everything but the 2ndā.
Also, kids have produced arms of bears on revolutionaries and itās been delightful in that respect. Any ideas?
