I often here about "the best rappers" or "legends of rap" but I don't know exactly what makes them legendary.
The ones I'm talking about are Andre 3000, Nas, Kanye West, Eminem, 2 Pac, Biggie, Jay Z and Lil Wayne.
I Mainly listen to Eminem, Yelawolf, Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar and Hopsin so I don't know much about the hip hop culture. That's where I'm hoping you guys can help me.
From what I know, Eminem is considered one of the best because of his lyrical word play, metaphors, delivery, and story telling present in his rhymes. From Renegade, Patienty Waiting, When I'm gone, Lose your self, Stay wide awake and Love game many different styles and techniques are present.
Lil Wayne I recently started listening to. I've heard IANAHB, The carter IV, and dedication 4 and what I think makes him great is his unique (?) Rapping style where he accompanies many of his lines with punchlines.
As for the greats, I want to know what made them great and songs that show that so I can grow to appreciate them as well.
Thanks.
Edit: Bobby Shmurda. Only heard his song hot nigga. Is he good or is he the next Soulja Boy?
