I 19F was diagnosed with hip dysplasia out the womb cus i was a breech baby lol. I wore the brace when I was a baby andI was monitored till I was around 7. Started having pain again at 12 and I've been going to drs since.I have lower back pain and mild knee issues from my hip dysplasia, and have gone to physical therapy a lot. The pain is something I'm used to so it doesn't affect me as much, but I feel as though I am downplaying the effects. I'm really scared of surgeries so i've been pushing this back, also due to my doctors telling me lifestyle changes could also benefit me. One of my doctors straight up told me I needed a fatter ass and stronger legs to support my weight bc it was so bad on my hips. And that freaked me out because I dont know how to work out!! Or weight train.
I have a question regarding PAO.
I have pretty narrow hips for a woman, and all the women in my family have large hips. Is there some influence hip dysplasia could have on my hip development? Also, if I undergo surgical procedures, will the external appearance change? AKA, will my hips get even more narrow, or wider? or stay the same? It's just an insecurity I've always had, and the thought of them looking smaller turns me off from the surgery ðŸ˜
