Can someone explain or answer these for me?

I'm interested in learning about Hinduism and I have a couple questions. Places to get me started.

Who is God? Is he a person? Is he different than the other gods? Did he create them? In some places I have found that Brahmin is the original Creator God and he created all the other gods. In another I found that all of us and everything that exists is all one Divine God. So I'm not sure what the truth is

Why were we created? What was the purpose? Do we have a purpose as a species? Do we have an individual purpose?
