Hiking Appalachian trail in March

I live in Georgia and am trying to hike a section of the Appalachian Trail sometime in March. Most likely a 2-3 day hike. Iām trying to see some beautiful views relatively close to home. Virginia, Tennessee North Carolina area. Any recommendations. Also this will be my first multi day hike, so Iām also looking for what to bring and how to plan for the weather in March
