Assume your entry level hiker. Just starting and not fan of carry huge weight. I work in tech and excited about hiking. Only been to few easy hikes . 1 odd mile and feel I should do more to avoid surprises like wearing bad shoes , not carrying enough water or basic survival items.
I live in Florida and started traveling for work in California, every 2 months . And want to make use of the those travels by hiking on beautiful locations there. That also is reason why I want to keep my hiking gear very light weight
