Planning on going to Hawaii Volcanos National Park next week and just saw a warning posted online.
“Be aware of aggressive ground-nesting vespula wasps. When threatened, leave the area. If stung and you begin to experience serious symptoms or allergic reactions, call 911.”
I’m wondering if it’s too risky for me to go to the park. Both of my parents are deathly allergic to wasp and bee stings. I’ve never been stung myself, but doctors have told me that is is very likely I too will have this allergy. I’m worried about being 5000 miles from home and possibly getting stung in a remote area. How risky do you think this trip is?
