Good evening!

I’ve just started Higurashi, I’ve seen it floating around for years ( YouTube clips of some violent scenes I think from the ‘06 anime? ). I am starting by watching a No-Commentary play through on YouTube, and, if this can be answered without spoilers, I feel like I am missing something?

I recently got through the first chapter of the game, and now suddenly the second chapter everyone is okay…? Are we just playing through alternate routes, though I haven’t seen a single choice be made? Does this game have choices to pick routes?
