I’m totally disgusted that San Bernardino county and our county supervisor Dawn Rowe, has let this Airbnb thing gets so out of control there’s nowhere for people to live in Joshua tree anymore . I’ve lost count of renters that I personally know that have been kicked out by greedy home owners selling out for the big payday… What used to be residential neighborhoods are now being destroyed by short term rentals ,it’s incomprehensible that our county leaders could let this happen to our small town . Zoned single family residential homes are all being replaced by hotels,all with the sanctioning \ blessing, of San Bernardino County . Long-term home owners are being pushed out by corporate wide scale, land and Home purchasing , foreign nationals spreading their money around, , light pollution , ruining our once dark skies, loud parties ,come and go people that don’t care one bit about our town or the people that live here.. I honestly wanted to live out the rest of my life in my home in Joshua tree, I’m a 37 year resident in what used to be a neighborhood there are now 15 short term rentals on my street alone ,with more on the way .How could this happen ? How could codes be broken in neighborhoods that were supposed to be single-family residential homes , now turned into hotels i’m pissed off as I write this totally disgusted how homeowners never had a voice in this and totally got ran over,disregarded with no protection at all ,none not one….And allowing this to happen San Bernardino county showed no respect for long-term home owners ,none Not one single ounce of protection just issuing permit after permit for these monstrosities..
