Everyone being jacked in most ancient sculptures and artwork.

Title speaks for itself. The saying "He looked like a Sculpture" Describing someone with a lot of muscle mass on them. I find a common theme among most ancient stonework and artwork alike, everyone looks absolutely jacked. What is the explanation for this?
