So I've started my first Vassal PBEM game, it's a fairly IGOUGO game but obviously, there are things like the retreat rule, air points, and artillery shifts that can be applied.
Trying to minimize the amount of back-and-forth relating to a combat phase (and to a lesser degree, overrun) means having to "play" for the other.
How do you handle situations where that breaks down?
Do you re-roll the combat if a shift is introduced?
Air points in SCS games that have them are applied by the defender first and then attacker... But with the log, I'll get something like "32-21, 1 HQ, 2 air points, 5:1" and so I already know the attacker's commitment, hell, I might have gotten the dice roll to (snake eyes, LOL or Box Car "glad I didn't waste an air point, D3R3 hurts!")
