Can too much lemon balm cause insomnia?

We know good ol’ lemon balm is usually wonderful for sleep and anxiety, but I’m wondering if the incorrect amount could cause the opposite?

Last night I plucked about 5 leaves from one of my LB plants before going to bed and found myself in a super light sleep getting up every 30 minutes and overall very restless. I was experiencing anxiety as well. This was my first time having it before bed.

I’m not sure if it’s anxiety and overthinking from life things or if the lemon balm had anything to do with it.

Does anyone know if LB can have the opposite usual effect if the wrong amount is taken?

I’ve been playing with a tincture I made. I’ve used it for anxiety, which fortunately I’m having less of these days anyway. I’ve also used it for sleep. I’ve noticed I have very vivid, lucid and realistic dreams that seem to simulate real-time so I wake up kinda fucked up a few times trying to snap out of it. For instance, last night I had a nightmare my dad died and it felt very real. So I’m gonna see how it goes the next few times.

To be clear, I did use valerian tincture last night too. Valerian seems to make me have crazy vivid dreams too, but not so realistic in terms of substance. I probably should just try one at a time. I’m coming off a trazadone prescription I was using daily for sleep.
