Help Designing a Home Theater system

I have a space in my main living with a projector set up that has no prewiring for sound. Directly above where the projector is mounted is a closet that I can stash AV equipment.
Would it make sense to put something like HEOS link or S760H receiver in the closet above and use that to wirelessly connect to a HEOS soundbar? Would that solution even work?
