Evening out henna on bleached/balayaged hair?

Hi everyone,

I've been researching henna extensively for several weeks now. My natural hair is dirty blonde/light brown and I have medium/golden blonde balayage.

From all the before and after photos I've seen, I think I'm really going to like how the henna looks on my virgin hair. I have had several shades of chemically dyed red/ginger/copper hair in the past, and all of them suited me really well and looked like they could have been my natural color.

However, I am concerned about how the henna might look on the bleached/balayaged parts of my hair. I don't want it to look bright orange and unnatural.

Does anyone have advice on how to even out the application on balayaged hair? Would my best bet be to dye my hair chemically one more time so it all matches before applying the henna? Or how feasible do y'all think it would be to apply pure henna to some parts of my hair, but henna with indigo for the balayaged parts? I'm concerned that might turn out looking patchy.

Of course I will be doing test strands.

Thank you so much for your advice!
