How do I tell people about my really bad depression without driving them away

Post Body

Hey... So the title kinda asks it all. With meeting new people comes new fears. My main fear with meeting new people is having them potentially deal with me in a depressive episode. And I have extremely bad episodes from time to time as my other posts say.

But the thing is I'm terrified of telling people I have mental problems like that because my head always defaults to "don't talk about it or else they'll think you just want attention" or "don't burden them with your own problems".

Is there... Some sort of easy way to tell people about it? Or am I just supposed to pray that they stay?
