Why am not getting new messages notifications in reddit?

It's been happening for 2 weeks now. I'm not able to preview any new messages unless I open a user's chatbox specifically. And often times, there are no new notifications. it's very difficult to chat and connect with this people bcz I keep missing dms. I'm using an android mobile
