Reddit chat on android 7

Hello! My tablet running android 7 is unable to use the chat feature, one of the reasons why i use reddit to begin with.
Been using old reddit to make up for it, but now even old reddit doesnt allow me to use chat as it says i need to use the app. Which i cant use.
Any suggestions on how i can actually make use if it?
