I am unable to DM other users

When I attempt to send a new DM I am met with an error message. I have over 3,000 karma and I have been a user for over a year. I don’t understand why I would be met with an error message telling me that I am unable to start a new conversation. Is there any help that I may be able to get? I am on iPhone IOS. Thank you!
