Notification issues?

Hi, apologies if posted in wrong place but is anyone else having issues with notifications on the reddit android app?
I've always got 4 unread notices no matter how many times I look or investigate each post notice. I've tried force stopping the app and switching off and on the app notification settings but nothing seems to be working. Any advice gratefully received on how to fix this issue!
