How 'private' is a private sub?

105 views on a post in a private sub with 5 members. What's the deal?
Is Post Insights artificially inflating numbers? Is it reddit-internal bots? I noticed that there were '5 people here' when the sub only had two members too.
How 'private' is a private sub? If I wanted to keep discussions away from other redditors, should I be doing that on a different platform instead?
