chat.reddit.com sent an invalid response - what to do?

If I open chat in a new tab on PC I get the error chat.reddit.com sent an invalid response.
If I open it on an open reddit page, I just get no messages appearing, So I can't chat with anyone.
Is there a something I can try or do I just need to wait for reddit to eventually fix it.
