Which deity has to do with mental strength?

I struggle with severe depression which has recently caused me to flunk out of university. This has only made me feel worse about myself and despite getting professional help things keep getting worse for me. The only god I’ve ever felt anything from was Thor (it’s been a year though) so I thought maybe I could try to turn to him. However it seems he represents physical strength and I’m not sure if he represents emotional strength too. Tbh I don’t know what I’m even looking to get from this, I just know that everyday is a struggle to stay alive, and I feel like I’m starting to fight back less and less as time goes by. Any guidance would be appreciated.

There are pretty much two paths here: - either keep on communicating with the god who's presence you've already felt. A fulltrui/patron deity can be like a best friend, helping out beyond their areas of expertise. Sometimes you need someone you have a connection to, right? So there is nothing wrong with looking for help with mental health issues from Thor. He is the protector of mankind, like a big strong brother. He wants to help.

  • or you can try give offerings to deities more commonly associated with your particular problem. Personally, I felt a lot of support from Frigg when I suffered from depression. She had gone through sorrow, and she knows so much. But her prescience has always felt calm and relaxing to me. Another suggestion might be Odin, because he is associated with being able to go through suffering with a clear head and a goal, and come back wiser. But ime, he can be a bit difficult to lean on. He is a complex god.

Don't be afraid to reach out to friends. Find a therapist if you haven't already. So many of us have gone through something like this. Hang in there, things will get better! Small steps.
