I know we're all sick of Paladin posts but I don't see how this can be good for the game.
I just played a match against a baku pally. I was using a control hunter with a nice secret package. Usually if I can leverage the secrets effectively early on I can recover, and the spellstone wolves are a great counter to the constant minion spam.
Anyways, we both skip turn 1 and he plays his two recruits on turn 2. I'm sitting on wandering monster and explosive trap. I needed to play a secret anyways since I had a spellstone in hand.
Explosive trap sounds like a waste on 2 recruits and I figure it might be too obvious and want to roll for a decent 3 drop to trade into the board so I go monster. I figure hell, even if he does play around explosive trap I should be fine.
But lo and behold, he throws down a firefly. Ok...? Then the flame elemental. Then with his 1 spare mana, uses an acherus veteran to buff one of his dudes and... hit my face, spawning a 3 drop that he trades into.
I'm sorry but in what universe would an aggro player not play around a potential explosive trap? He wasted no time in throwing down more minions that would have been burned right up.
The answer seems to be that since his deck is so easy and so effective, he doesn't really need to learn the different spells and secrets... Even explosive trap...
He didn't have a card back, and while sure, I sometimes forget to set one on a new deck, he seemed to be a very new player who crafted one of the strongest decks in the game.
Bully for him, but I don't see how he can ever really learn the game when he doesn't play around the right cards and instead goes all face all the time because, well... Usually it's still going to work.
Tl;dr blah blah blah paladin whining
