Is there any way to obtain C'Thun for a returning player?

I haven't played for like a year and a half, and noticed that a few of the low-ranked players I matched up with had the same legendary. Couldn't see it in the crafting menu and turns out it's uncraftable, so then I googled it and found it was a free card a few months back. Does this mean I can't obtain it, since I didn't get it when I logged in?
