I know Medicare for All might sound good, but there are some issues with reality that might be a problem. Case in point:
So my Uncle is a recent recipient of Medicare and was surprised when 2 of his doctors told him he would need supplemental insurance, private insurance or pay the difference in the Medicare payment if he wished to remain a patient. The doctors were not taking any new Medicare patients even if they were previous patients under other insurance. So he went looking and it took 2 months to find 1 doctor that requires him to schedule appointments months in advance. He still has not found the other doctor and has to pay out of pocket to his previous care provider.
So, if it is this hard to find Medicare providers for just one person (and I have heard other seniors saying the same thing about trouble finding doctors), what happens when we transfer 200-250 million people from private insurance to Medicare For All? Where will the care come from?
