went by the local dealer today to audition some headphones. I was interested to try out their LCD-X's but they said they didn't have a test unit. So I tried on some other stuff, namely the Aeon 2 closed, LCD-4, Diana, LCD-2C and the HD800. All this running form an ifi zen dac and flac files. some thoughts.. I liked the Aeon 2, the closed feeling felt really cozy and I felt the music was really there (slightly high treble), and out of all them this has the best fit on my head, plus it's lightweight. What I found on the Aeon's was on high trebles and deep bass the sound was sort of like cracking and wasn't that clear. The LCD-4's I had to max out the volume on the zen to get decent listening levels, and I felt that I couldn't hear much (maybe the zen dac was too weak of an amp to power it? what do you guys think?). The Diana was ok, but I felt there was sound leakage because the fit on my head wasn't too good, and it sort of felt like a plainer headphone compared to the others I tested. The LCD-2C was ok, the music was clearer compared to the closed Aeon's but I felt the Aeon's had more bass to them. and then the HD800, it just kept slipping of my head! I don't know if it's meant for bigger heads but the fit just doesn't do well on mine and I had to hold them in order to keep them in place for listening, it had a similar sound signature to the LCD-4's, but the 4's were I think warmer? And also I felt the zen didn't power the HD800's enough I guess? All in all, I think I liked the Dan Clark's the best, in terms of the very comforable fit, and that it's portable, plus the sound wasn't too bad except for the crackling on very high highs and lows. I still don't know which I should purchase, initally it's the LCD-X's, but the Aeon's portability really attracts me. Anyway just thought of sharing. The songs I tested were Doja Cat's Like That, Stone Temple Pilots, Norah Jones, Limp Bizkit, and some other tracks I forgot. Overall a pretty enjoyable day. I expected more from the LCD-4's though. I'm not an expert in audio, I'm just a beginner, so please pardon if I'm not that accurate in my description, these are all just my opinion..
