Question about lifespan rating of a vacuum tube
Post Body
Say I have a tube amp and the tube is rated for 5000 hours. Does that mean 5000 hours of the amp being powered on, or 5000 hours of sound being played through it?
I assume it's the former but I'm totally ignorant of electronics and I couldn't find anything on Google.
I'm not terribly worried about it either way since 5000 hours is a lot (1 year and 9 months at 8 hours 7 days a week) and I'm nowhere near that level of use, but I've been wondering.
