insiried by oxbudys post i decided to write down my 2 cents on stuff we should try out. i got the same opinion on changing the dynamics of the map so it keeps be interesting.. even on lower days... the "smaller the map" idea isnt bad, i got to say that. but maybe 1,5-2k would be the first to try out... my thoughts went into a different direction a couple maps ago. i told my ideas 1or 2 admins but i think noone really thought about it. so here it comes again.... we are the community of "Hardcore Factions" so we are now on a "hardcore server WITH factions"! in my opinion it doesnt fit that well, caue people get more and more help and we are forced to make it easyer for beginners and newcomers cause the communitiy is gettin smaller. with longer protection, 99% save land, /f home and stuff like this we are not really a "hardcore server". dont get me wrong, its good that beginners are saver and stuff, we need that! but why dont we make FACTIONS more hardcore? there comes my idea...
-maximum players per faction reduced to 2 or maximum 5 players! -no official "allies" with different colored nametags
i know some ppl would be scared to get more responsibility to the faction, but the benefits are easy to get... right now we got around 12-15 people per faction, in big one we got 20 ! if the max would be 3 (for example) we would have 4 - 5times the amount of factions on the map! right now we ALWAYS got 2 alliances fighting at koth/palace/etc. - i played for 8 maps on HCF, fought alot of battles but i only remember !1! time when 3 enemied alliances were "around" temple. doesnt matter if there are 100 people online or 12!!!! always only 2 teams. this wont be the cause if we change the member cap. if 12 people are online there already could be 3-4 factions contesting... if 100 people are online there would be more then 30 different teams! imagine that for a moment :)))) people would start shaking again while fighting i bet and thats what i love the most about HCF - the adrenalin rushs i had long time ago! what comes along with the small sizes is the fact that the map will be "smaller" without changing the size of it, cause not 5-7 big factions need a home, there would be more then 100 which need a place to live! this is the main reason for my ideas... but there would be some other sideeffects on this which maybe positive for the community! example - more trading possible. why? cause everyone is important now in a faction. in my experience a faction right now always works the same.. people find out who is good in what mission and everyone mostly does what they can do best. i knew that nathan was great in the nether to get wards, blazes, etc so i always sended HIM to organize this shit fast and save without much risks. dolan was the mobgrinder dude, etc.! so cause of 2 ppl 20 others benefited from that and hade SAVE resources every map and noone died at building a grinder :). with the new membercap 30times the amount of factions would need wards, enderpearls etc. so there would be more competition about resources, or trading would expire very much - both of it is good for makin an interesting server! next good side-effect would be that we force everybody to fight each other again :) right now, everyone knows everyone on the server and we all got players on the server we like so much, that we wouldnt like to fight them. nearly everyone of the community has talked to any other player already on mumble, skype etc.! we are one big cluster of friends which play other games together, try to invade or "try to destroy" (HAHA) other political servers, play counterstrike or league of legends together... ! players normally dont try to destroy a base of an other player, if he has a base with him on an different server etc. so they hunt the ones they dont know/like/dependent - the begginers (people normally call them noobs). thats why i think we need more competition.
WHY NO ALLIANCES? simple... like i said - "we are a community of cuddling friend" so alliances will be formed, even if u dont allow it with the plugin. thats why we have to make alliances more "hardcore" too. but they shouldnt benefit for doing alliances with gettin different colors and still have an betrayal - safe base while doing an alliance. also the communication would be more "hardcore" cause u dont got allychat anymore :) if u like the idea to make it more difficult to allie others u can also change the mumble channals to max 2-5players (factionsize) or register the names so only them can join theyr factionchannal. just make 2 public rooms like longue and admin help for example. OK people will switch to skype or other mumble servers, but i dont see a problem with that too. right now if temple is up, an faction needs like 2secs to know if they should contest or not.. just tab in windows, look at 2-4 channals, and u know very well if u got a chance or not... lowers the competition again cause if factions are outnumbered, they normally stay at home or play something else. if 3-4 factions with the lowered members decide to allie for an koth its very hard to get all the hits on the enemy without hitting a friend or two -> more people will die in friendly fire -> less alliances! "no i dont fight with them anymore, they killed me three times now!" its also more realistic, cause in a war u dont know whos friend or foe cause u see a colored name above theyr heads ;) (yeah i know, MC isnt realistic, but still.. ) right now if u have 3-4 allied factions on HCF you are pretty save and got the half population as allies on your side lol.
OK this post is already too long, so most ppl wont read it completely. it got that long, cause i try to explain that many thoughts i had as best as i can in this language. but let me say one more thing... thats not the only positive aspects, there are some more i didnt came out with cause of the lenght of this post :)
