At the same time being a ridiculously good build-up to the finale, The Half-Blood Prince is such an amazing book all on its own.
Post Body

Of all the comfort media I've consumed in the past few months, HP is the one I just can't seem to get over after the usual amount of time (and it's not even because of nostalgia because I didn't get to read the books growing up), and the sixth book I keep returning to every few days, at least to skim the whole story or to read favourtie parts.

One of my favourite things about it has to be the memory dives into the pensieve. I know the idea would only draw a dismissive scoff from a producer but I wish I could see a spin-off about Dumbldore going to ridiculous lengths to find out about Voldemort's Immortality Project, 'cause I'm a sucker for detective stories and crime procedurals.

I know HBP being the best in the series isn't even a lukewarm take and the praises have been done to death, but I still can't get over that reveal of the locket being fake. All the hellish depths they dug in to get it, only to find out they weren't the only ones toiling to bring about the downfall of Voldemort. It was heart-breaking yet somehow uplifting.

I can't imagine how long that wait must've been back then for the Deathly Hallows to come out.
