What do you think the sorting hat sang about in DH? Or did Snape forbid the hat from singing?
“Hat, you will not sing one word at the welcoming feast. You will just sort the new students.”
“But Sir, it’s tradition!”
“Not! One! Word!”
Cue murmuring from the portraits in the office.
“SILENCE! This is my school now, and I shall run it as the Dark Lord sees fit! Keep quiet or I shall have Mister Filch hang your portraits in the dungeon bathrooms!”
