So, are children just homeschooled before Hogwarts?

I understand that you wouldn't exactly want 4-10 year olds making potions and wielding wands.

However, one has to wonder how Hogwarts students (with magical families) would learn the fundamentals. They obviously need to be able to read and write fluently in English. Of course, stay at home parents like Molly would likely be capable of handling this. And with a million kids, she wouldn't have to worry too much of them being properly socialized. But what about single parents like Xenophilius? It appears he works from home but he is the editor and publisher of a major wizarding magazine. He'd probably be working 40-50 hours a week, if not more. What does the sibling-less young Luna do while he's hard at work? How would he ensure she's fluent in language arts before she goes to Hogwarts? On a slightly different note, how would single parents/guardians like Neville's grandmother support them both? If the Longbottoms have a family fortune, how would Neville become socialized with other kids? Was he just in the company of his grandma and her friends until he was 11, and his first interactions with other kids was at Hogwarts?

Is there socialized daycare/primary school in the wizarding world? How do single parents without family fortunes manage? Outside of places like Hogsmeade and in the Ministry there doesn't seem to be much interaction between wizarding families- certainly not enough to suggest communal support between families. What would Hogwarts do if an educationally neglected child came to school illiterate?

I'd love to hear your headcanon on the topic.
