If they had to make a TV reboot of the franchise, this is what I would rather see than just a straight remake:
DEATH EATERS: ORIGINS
A prequel focusing on the rise of Voldemort and the first Wizarding War.
Season 1 would just be Voldemort’s story, first with the flashbacks we saw in HALF-BLOOD PRINCE, and then most of the season would follow Tom Riddle after graduating Hogwarts in his early days as he fully takes on the identity Lord Voldemort.
Season 2 onward could focus on the generation of Severus Snape, Lucius Malfoy, and Regulus Black. What is that they see in this leader that makes them want to join?
It would be great to finally be told Regulus’s perspective, after only hearing it second-hand in the books. Regulus’s entire journey from Death Eater to defector to tragic hero could be an entire season.
Snape has always been a controversial character, but I think showing him during his Hogwarts and post-Hogwarts days could flesh him out a lot. We could even see him first becoming Potions teacher.
Overall, I think this idea could be a great TV show. It’s different enough from the main HP story to not feel redundant, but has enough familiar faces and locations to still bring fans in.
