I went into this one kind of iffy.
Considering some of the authors previous works, he’s very hit or miss for my tastes.
More misses than hits, like 65/35. Due to genre.
His writing style is good. I will never deny that. Jay can create a good story and weave characters realistically and suitable for their story.
Story follows a supervillain as he takes on an apprentices. I see parallels of the MC as Magneto/Peter Parker, without Peter being a simp.
His harem developed and he interacted like a normal, warm blooded male would when women make obvious moves on him and display affection. We didn’t have any angst or self loathing or she’s mah queen moments.
The guy was a villain but not an asshole.
Good fights.
Good character growth.
The guy could appreciate the body of a woman but wasn’t whiny or thirsty for it. Was just, “she knows how to flaunt it and distract a guy. What’s the next topic of business?”
Actions having equal and opposite reactions.
Overall, this guy acted like a guy would. My gosh that was refreshing!!!!
Gonna start book 2 this weekend.
If you wanna make a superhero or supervillain story, this is a great one to use as a standard.
