EDIT: Solved, it was the adapter thank god. It was only putting out about 3/4V, so happy it wasn't the computer/battery itself.
My Sager np8170 just died. Completely. No lights, no response, nothing. Out of nowhere, the thing just shut down and that was it. Until I found some help through Google, here is what I did.
- Remove power supply
- Remove main battery
- Hold power button for 30 seconds
- Reconnect power supply
- Attempt to start
- Reconnect main battery
- Started
I don't know if any of those steps were non-factors but that is what I did and it worked. If anyone has a clue as to why this happened I'd appreciate it. So the computer will turn on now, as it was fully charged, but it won't charge now. The initial crash occurred after about a minute or two of using the computer. It had been plugged in and downloading from Steam for awhile, but I noticed the ac adapter wasn't hot at all. I don't know whether this is a sign, or whether it wasn't under enough load to produce heat, and then of course, the battery was at 100% when I got it to work.
The battery is a huge brick, an FSP220. My computer has a i7-2620QM and Nvidia 485m so it needs a big power supply. Any help with this would be appreciated, I'm just hoping to god it's an issue with the adapter and not the battery. Oh and I can't use any of my other chargers because this computer has the 4 prong connection on it that none of my other adapters have.
