I just purchased an expensive laptop, what measures can I take to protect it from theft/improve recovery chances?

I just put in my order for a new laptop and I want to make sure I cover as many bases as I can. I know there are some tracking and remote control programs but I know nothing about them and would appreciate a point in the right direction. Any help you could give on the topic would be great. Thanks in advance.
For those who are curious what I got, the specs are as follows: Sager np8170, 17.6", Intel i7 2620QM, 8gb DDR3, GTX 485m, HDD1: 80gb Intel SSD SATA II, HDD2: 500gb 7200, Intel 6300 wireless. I'm excited as hell. For those who wonder why I got a gaming laptop, I travel all the time for work, a desktop wasn't an option.
