Hi Reddit, I'm currently in a situation where I have a 10mb cable line being shared between 4~5 people. Internet usage is fine but every once a while someone decides to crash the router with some sort of p2p application (Bittorrent or something else).
I'm considering buying a new router to replace what we currently use (a non-wireless EdiMax router whose QoS features never work). I was wondering if there are any recommendations for a decent and reasonably priced N routers?
Being in Asia (Taiwan) they don't carry the favorited Linksys routers here. After looking around I've been leaning towards either a Buffalo or D-Link router - maybe one supported by DDWRT/OPENWRT/Tomato just in case the built-in QoS doesn't work well enough.
My Key concerns are the router crashing from package traffic generated by p2p usage, and QoS or some sort of bandwidth/priority control for fair internet usage.
Thanks! Any recommendations or advice/resources would be greatly appreciated.
