Why does Hardstyle keep getting faster?
Post Body

Back when Hardstyle began, it was around 140bpm(±5). By the time 2010's rolled around, 150bpm was the standard. Looking at tracks now, many of them are pushing 160bpm, and I've seen some Rawstyle tracks even hitting 165bpm.

Why do you think the average BPM keeps rising every 5-10 years? When will the BPM hit the limit? Will there be eventually be a "collapse" and something like "Downstyle" will gain popularity in the future which goes back to 140-150bpm roots, bit similar what has been happening in Hardcore scene for few years?

Comments

1) Trying to be more underground. Many genres have a very orchestral/anthem phase before reversing course hard

2) Heavier stim usage (the more Hardstyle moves away from the Netherlands the more XTC is gonna be cut with Speed or Meth)

3) Going fast can be a decent stopgap if you're feeling writer's block
