hi! when my audiologist recommended this hearing aid i had a hard time finding anything about it online so i thought it might help to talk a little bit about it.
itâs a RITE (receiver in the ear) hearing aid and at first is not super comfortable. for the first few days it left my ear canal sore and i was reluctant to put it in, but as you get used to it you kind of forget that itâs there. bearing in mind that it is my first hearing aid, i think that the overall sound quality is very good (i have moderate to severe conductive hearing loss). it gives feedback at some weird times (tucking hair behind the ear, when you put it in, etc) but overall itâs improved my lease on life tremendously. the audio delivery is consistent and not delayed.
maintenance is very easy and it comes as rechargeable or batter operated. the charging dock doesnât take up an extreme amount of space.
itâs very discreet if you want it to be and comes in a wide range of colors. when in place the microphone/processor of the RITE is out of sight.
it has bluetooth connectivity and the widex âmomentâ app is very easy to navigate. so far, having it serviced has been a breeze and changing out the wax filter is fairly simple.
depending upon your earâs wax production the speakerâs wax filter and dome may have to be changed more frequently and as with most RITEs the speaker is vulnerable to wax/moisture damage, but i havenât had a problem with it. the main body isnât so small that dexterity is an issue.
overall a solid choice. everyone is different, of course! my hearing damage came from a cholesteatoma and this type of device works for me!
