hello! i'm new here.
i lost the hearing in my left ear when i was 13 (i'm 20 now!! )and have lived like this for a while - mine isn't a super interesting story. i had a cholesteatoma that had progressed far enough into my ear to warp my hammer and anvil, and then i had my eardrum and the two bones removed! part of my chewing muscle was amputated to build a new eardrum, but all of my prosthetics have disconnected and i can't really hear in that ear anymore. my right one never adapted to make up for it.
i don't know anybody else that is hoh/deaf and i was hoping to make some friends who understood my perspective, and after scrolling the reddit it seems like this is a great group. even if nothing comes of it, it's nice to visualize the concept that it's not just me standing in two worlds and cultures.
my name is juno. and it's nice to meet you. :)
