I have cookie bite hearing loss the was first noticed around 11 but just got my first hearing aids last year. As my hearing loss has gotten progressively worse I feel I don't fit in in the hearing world as everyone talks to fast and over each other for me to catch it all but I don't fit in to the deaf community either there is a deaf community about 25 minutes from where I live and yeas I mean most of the community is deaf there's a deaf school there and lots of deaf families in our area move there i don't fit in with them and have gotten quite rude responses to reaching out the next nearest place that has any events is 1 and a half hours away and the lady that coordinates the events tries to help me fit in but I feel stuck in not deaf enough for the deaf community in my area but im not hearing enough for hanging out with my hearing friends. It's a sucky lonely place and it's just Gunna be worse as eventually I will be completely deaf and my hearing friends are trying to learn asl and look at me when they talk but sometimes it's just not enough and the deaf community around here are mostly born deaf so they grew up with asl and in still learning and very few know or remember hearing so that makes it hard to relate
