When we first met, my husband couldn't cook at all. He could microwave things but that was about it. I love cooking and making new experimental dishes and having people try them, And he was more than happy to. And he was honest! He talked about " I'm not the biggest fan of ___ but this part was good!" Or "my favorite part was ____!" And so when he said he loved it I believed him.
Over the years, I have made my favorite foods clear with my actions. When Im sick, I like scrambled eggs. When I'm feeling nostalgic or homesick, I like spaghetti. For "special meals", I like fish or steak. My husband has learned these few things to cook even though he isnt a fan of cooking, so he can surprise me with special meals. And he does a great job! He asked questions when I cooked and remembered them, like seasonings and how much of each thing. For things he can't cook, he remembers my special restaurants.
I feel so thankful to have him. There's nothing better to me than to wake up feeling icky and him make me a plate of scrambled eggs.
